Best SUP Spots In Kailua Kona
Kailua Bay & Kamakahonu Beach
- Location: North end of downtown
- Rentals Available: Yes
- Access: Easy beach access
- Paddling Type: Bay & Open Ocean
Paddling in this area is incredibly accessible because it’s just off the main street of downtown near the harbor. And to make things even better, you can rent paddle boards from Big Island Water Sports right on the beach.
You can start out in the calm waters of the bay where you are likely to see plenty of fish and small sea creatures down through the incredibly clear water. If you are feeling more adventurous you can paddle a little further out from the bay and get into some more open water to find some waves to chase and play in.
This is a great place for a quick paddle in the harbor with the kids for an hour, but if you are looking for a bigger adventure you can definitely spend hours paddling up and down the coastline until your arms are exhausted or you need to return your paddle board.
