If you’re like me and love to go paddle boarding, then you know that the most important part of getting out on the water is what you wear. It can be really hard to figure out just how much clothing to bring when I’m not sure if it’s going to be hot or cold when I get there. What should you wear to paddle boarding?

This all depends on many factors, which include the weather, the water temperature, and what type of board you are using. If you’re just starting out paddle boarding in your local waterways, then chances are it’s going to be slightly colder. Here are some tips for figuring out just what will work for your day!

Maybe you are planning to go paddle boarding to a lake. If you’re planning on going to a local lake or river, then expect cooler temperatures. It’s always best to bring at least one layer more than what the weather shows just in case it ends up being colder than expected!
Here are some of the answers to your questions;

Do you fall in when paddle boarding?

If you keep falling while paddle boarding, then make sure to carry an extra pair of clothes or a towel in case you get wet!

When paddle boarding, the most important thing is to be prepared so that it doesn’t ruin your time on the water. I always recommend at least one set of dry clothes and shoes if possible. If you are going out for longer than expected or bringing kids with you, then consider adding another layer just to be sure.

Wear a life jacket. This is one of those things where it’s better to be safe than sorry!
That way, you don’t have anything holding you back from getting out on the water and enjoying your time paddle boarding! There are many different types of life jackets that can fit anyone’s needs, so it’s best to just look around for a little bit and figure out what you feel most comfortable wearing.

It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothes on your paddle board outing as well! You never know when you might fall in the water, so it’s always best to be prepared for anything that comes your way!

Do you have to wear a wetsuit when paddling boarding?

Wetsuits are not required, but it is suggested. You can wear a wetsuit even when the water temperature is above 20 degrees Celsius.

If you plan to go paddle boarding in colder waters, then wearing a wetsuit would be your best option. Wearing a wet suit while paddle boarding will keep you warmer in the colder waters! It also helps if you are trying to do some paddle boarding tricks in cold water.

Keep in mind that wetsuits can be quite expensive, so it’s best to take your time when looking around and figure out what works for you. Sometimes people forget just how much they cost, but chances are, once you see them hanging in your wardrobe, you will remember how much they are!

Having said that, wetsuits are not the only option when it comes to staying warm while paddle boarding. There are also other options such as drysuits which keep you warmer than a normal wet suit would.

These can be great for anyone who is just getting into paddle boarding and still trying to figure out what works best for them. It is more of an investment but can be a rewarding one in the end!

Most of the time, you will not need a wetsuit if it is going to be warm out. However, even in warmer temperatures, I would recommend wearing a full coverage top and bottom with at least SPF 50 before getting into the water!

In most cases, no; however, my recommendation is that you do wear one just in case there are other factors present that you are unaware of.

Should I wear shoes when paddle boarding?

I always recommend wearing shoes when paddle boarding. It is a great way to protect your feet from rocks and other hard objects that you might run into while on the water!

Wearing proper footwear will help make sure that your day of fun isn’t ruined because of one little thing going wrong. If you’re just starting out paddle boarding in warmer weather, then it’s best that you wear shoes!

This is one of those things where having a good pair of shoes will make your day on the water much better. It also helps to keep rocks and other hard objects from hurting your feet while you are out there exploring all that nature has to offer! I have seen many people who got hurt because they didn’t wear shoes and ended up with a bunch of cuts!

If you’re out on the water for long amounts of time, then it’s also important to make sure that your feet do not get blisters. This is one reason why wearing proper footwear is so important as well!

There are many different types of things people like to wear while paddle boarding, such as sandals, sneakers, and even water shoes! You can find anything that works best for you when it comes to wearing footwear so do not feel left out if your feet are a little bigger or smaller than the average size.

All in all, I always recommend you wear shoes whenever you go paddle boarding but remember that it’s okay if you don’t. If your feet are small enough and the water is warm, then there really isn’t a reason to wear them!

Do I need a waterproof bag?

If you are planning on going out to a lake or river, then yes, I would recommend bringing some form of a waterproof bag. If you are unsure what type of board will work the best for you, then check into one that has storage space built-in!

In most cases, no, however my recommendation is that you do have a waterproof bag just in case it rains while you are out on the water.

Are Fanny Packs good for paddle boarding?

Fanny packs are another great option to consider when it comes time for you to pick out what type of bag or storage area that will work best for your needs! If you’re just starting out, then this is usually the safest bet because they can hold lots of different items.

However, I would not recommend using them if there was a chance that you would be out in the water for more than a couple of hours. This is because they can cause your body to overheat and will make it harder for you to stay cool while paddle boarding!

In conclusion, I would recommend you wear a full coverage wet suit, wearing shoes when paddle boarding. It is a great way to protect your feet from rocks and other hard objects that you might run into while on the water! If you’re out on the water for long amounts of time, then it’s also important to make sure that your feet do not get blisters. This is one reason why wearing proper footwear is so important as well!
